Soil Health and Agricultural Land Investment Planning
Vincent is a highly experienced expert in land suitability assessments for agricultural use and soil fertility advisory. He conducts soil sampling and testing and provides fertilizer recommendations and advice on crop water use requirements. He is an expert in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools for resource mapping and agricultural land investment planning.
Vincent has completed many engagements in large-scale cropland evaluation, covering all technical aspects of farm evaluation, including soil analysis, crop water use requirements, and fertilizer recommendations, for example: due diligence for 23,000 acres as an investment in large-scale crop farming in eastern Uganda; and expert inputs to business planning for large-scale high-density tissue-cultured banana production. In addition, he has provided extensive soil advisory services for most of Kenya’s county governments and many private companies, working with reputable laboratories in Kenya, South Africa, and Europe. In addition, he has consulted widely for international agencies in soil mapping across Kenya and Africa.
Since 2018, Vincent has also been an adjunct Lecturer in soil science, climate change, remote sensing, and GIS at Mt. Kenya University. Before that, he was a Lecturer at the University of Nairobi's Soil Science Department within the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences. He is widely published in major peer-reviewed journals and papers and has contributed to several book chapters on land suitability for economic agriculture and productive activities for major industrial and food crops.
Vincent earned his PhD and MSc in Soil Science from the University of Nairobi. He also holds a BSc in Agriculture (1st Class Honors) from the same university.
